Planning and Modelling Software

Resource is a strategic modelling environment used principally as a modeling tool to allow an institution to understand what is possible within the planning process in relation to curriculum delivery within given resources.

Educational institutions, both nationally and internationally, waste millions of pounds per year through underutilising space. Yet pressures to expand the estate are unrelenting. Resource is a strategic reporting and scenario building tool to allow an appreciation to be gained of how space can be used more effectively. Intelligent reporting helps identify the problems and scenario building allows recommended changes to be simulated in real time. This results in a net reduction in the price of refurbishment or construction through the provision of space plans which better match usage requirements.

Resource allow for investigations to take place in terms of resource usage scenarios relating to how ‘good’ the current timetable solutions are, how they might be made ‘better’ and how ‘change’ could be introduced to allow the institution to position itself for the future in terms of resource requirement. This involves a computer assisted approach in terms of overall institutional modelling i.e. overall current and projected resource.

Specifically, Resource provides analysis of potential space plan models through identifying and varying key institutional space drivers. Examples of these are space type mix, average contact hours, length of timetabled week, frequency of use, projected occupancy, curriculum need, staff preferences etc. The proposed model(s) are constructed and delivered through a process of engagement ensuring the most efficient solution is provided in allowing ideal robust space plans to become part of the institutional planning and building process.
